On 31st of August 2023 is when the new and improved kitchen was opened. The event started at 10:00am and went on until 12:00 noon. Both the primary pupils and the high school students gathered for the wonderful experience of getting to open the new kitchen. Every one including the Director, Manager, Supervisor, Teachers and others attended .Amongst the visitors were the District manager Mr. Vincent who was accompanied by the head Manager. The opening prayer was done Fridah a form three girl which was followed by entertainment from Indian Dancers, Acrobats, Garden Choir and a commercial act. After this, Director Mr. Moses Ndung’u gave a heartfelt speech of Gardens history and how it progressed. He also thanked the Carrefour supermarket for funding the kitchen to be built and not only that but for also bringing foodstuff along with them. The budget for funding both the building and buying the foodstuffs was 8.5 million Kenyan shillings. Not only the director felt thankful and merry about this amazing change but also the workers and students of the school felt the convenience of the new kitchen. The kitchen’s look was amazing when it was opened after the director’s speech, the manager general of Carrefour and the district manager’s speeches. A few students and pupils also followed along to help open and pictures were taken. The kitchen had been modernized such that there were four gases, a store, a sink, a posho mill room and even a freezer. The look of the room gave many joy. After that people went back to their seats and the end of the event was marked, photos were taken and after people danced that is the visitors and the students. Kevin Njuguna gave vote of thanks to the visitors where he explained little challenges and how they were improved from the old kitchen on the new and really thanked the visitors and encouraged them to be at home and always welcomed. He also together with the students promised the visitors of taking good care of the kitchen with all the necessities. The final prayer was then done by Saiddi Iddi. Not only is Garden Mixed Secondary School happy but also thankful to Carrefour for making them have a new experience and also bringing along with them gifts.
