Children’s Garden voices was formulated by dad Alvin during his visit. This was to enable the students from the Children’s Garden News Network club to air their voices. The students have been writing since December 2022. Dad Alvin had also promised to be inviting judges to choose the winning articles then the student who wrote the article is to be awarded.

On February third dad Alvin invited Ms. Lok Huang to choose the winning article. She introduced herself reviewed the articles and selected the winning article. Here is part of what she said,

“My name is Lok Huang and I used to teach English to senior high school students, aged 17 and 18, in Singapore.

And thanks, Daddy Alvin, I have an opportunity to read the stories posted and the privilege to pick the Story of the Month. It was a difficult task to pick the Story of the Month as all the writers had put in much work, thoughts, and accompanying photographs into their stories. Even though I could only pick one story as the Story of the Month, everyone’s a winner. Why? Because everyone who dares to take the first step to realize their dream is already a winner.

Quoting Stella Kwamboka from the blog entry, News about National Examination results:
“I have been working hard and smart since I was in form one up to my finishing year, So I will urge you all to focus on what you want and also believe in yourself.”

Keep up the effort! One day, you will realize your dream.
The Story of the Month is Daddy Alvin’s visit to Children’s Garden Home written by Sakwa Linet Auma. Her story captured the gratitude and thankfulness of the love and encouragement the children received from Daddy Alvin. Also, her description of the deep friendship between Daddy Alvin and Daddy Moses reflected the depth of the love Daddy Alvin and Daddy Moses have for the children and the Home. Congratulations, Sakwa.

Congratulations to the other contributing writers: Linet Njoki, Maureen, Ernest Mungai, Victoria Khalayi, Derrick & Robin.

Keep writing. Keep dreaming big! “

She went ahead and gave an inspiring story about how life was when she was in school. she said,

“Books give a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and life to everything!”
~Plato
In primary school, my teacher, Mr. Lim, always encouraged us to study hard. He even brought books as prizes to reward those who did well on tests and examinations. During my primary school days, books were expensive. This motivated me to work hard because the first in class would get to pick a brand-new book. However, I remembered my disappointment when I came third in class in one examination; I had to see the first two top winners pick up the only two brand-new books. I had to be satisfied with a book that was not brand new but still looked new. I learned a lesson that day – to work even harder in the next examination. However, in life, there would always be someone who would be smarter or more hardworking than you. What do we do then? Give up? Or keep striving? Thanks to my teacher’s encouragement, my class did not give up on themselves. Instead, he continued to fill up the cupboard with books, both new and old to motivate us to work hard. Although the new books were reserved for prize winners, he let us borrow second-hand books each time we did well in a class test or submit quality homework. Thanks to Mr. Lim, I became an avid reader. Thanks to Mr. Lim and his books, I found myself transported to different worlds and universes. Thank you, Mr. Lim, for firing up my imagination. Truly a gift, a gift of life!

We appreciate Her effort as she took her precious time to review and choose a winning article. She went ahead and inspired us to work hard regardless of the challenges that may come our way.
