Children’s Garden is also known as a place where talents are nurtured. Every semester, the principal, the head teacher, and the head of sports organize a sports day. In addition to football, students also play athletics and volleyball.
The primary students competed against the secondary students on the 10th of March 2023 in this semester’s sports.
Despite organizing more than five sports, only two took place due to time constraints: football and athletics. As champions, primary students, secondary students, and teachers trained hard because they didn’t want to lose. High schoolers were considered big for nothing and wouldn’t dare win, while the primary sector was viewed by high schoolers as just a puff of cold porridge.
The event started with a parade in which we were guided as to how it would proceed. At exactly 10:00 am, the athletics began. The first race was 100m where the champion was Laureen Masitsa followed by Patricia Chepng’endo. The next race was 200m where Sharon Akinyi became the first runner while Patricia took the second position in girls. Hence in boys, Vincent Oduor and Kennedy Juma took the first and second positions respectively.
During the third race which was 5000m long, the girl’s champions were Sharon Akinyi and Faith Cherotich while the boys’ flag bearers were Joseph Babu and Elkanah Andibo. The last race was 500m long and the winners were Sharon Akinyi and Lucy Mutheu while the boys produced Kennedy Juma and Clinton Musungu as their champions.
The high schoolers proved the primary wrong because they only produced two champions: Faith Cherotich and Joseph Babu. We all break for lunch waiting for the football match to start afterward. At exactly 2:00 pm the football players were on the field already. The first match was between primary Pupils and 2nd level secondary students. The referee started the game and the players indeed were prepared. From the look of the players, they all looked like winners because of the seriousness they showed.
The primary scored a goal and the match ended leaving the primary team as the winner. The primary team met with level three of high school where they were thrown in a hole of Zero goals by two goals. The level three team finally met with the final team (the teacher’s team)and drew with two goals each but the teacher’s team was defeated in the penalty by three goals.
After that, the analysis was made where the best goalkeepers Elkana Andibo and George Otieno while the best players; Alex Kasisi, Fred Ouma, Sharon Akinyi, and Linet Auma were induced and the athlete’s champions were also awarded.
After that, the high school was given a cup for the victory while the primary were disapointed by their loss and promised to win next time by saying ,”We will never give up, we are coming back.”
