My name is faith Murugi.I am 15 years old and currently I’m in grade 9 my dream is to become a lawyer when I grow up.I am the last born in my family out of three children my two siblings are actually my biological siblings though they have a different father than mine.
My mom separated with my step Dad then met my father and I was born. We lived happily since then as a family until one faithful day when I was just one year old when my father passed away. He had been battling stomach cancer but it became too much for him for it got him weaker day making him to succumb to it. It was a terrible and horrible moment for us to bear.
From there on we had been a rough and tough time. My mother had to hustle a lot to cater for our needs and school fees, some time slept hungry .
This went on for years until I reach the third grade one of my brothers could not bear this kind of life and decided to run away to his biological father and the the other one married and went his way to start his own life.
Since I was young and no where to run to I remained there.we suffered a lot we could stay for days with no food and other basic needs .
my mother decided to get married again but this time things didn’t get easy as she had developed depression. Her new husband was drunkard and Violent . She resorted to drunkard behavior to ease the suffering. The house lacked peace .
Mentally and physically this situation affected me .I was bullied in school because of my torn clothes and also cause of the scars from being beaten mercilessly at home.
When I was in grade 5, my father came drunk as usual and beat the both of us thoroughly and he even promised to kill us.we reported and he was given a restraining order. Also to be cautious we relocated into a different county “Eldoret.”
In Eldoret,She requested the school to just let me sit for my papers then she’ll clear in due time .I passed my Exams and the school agreed to sponsor me.
Later my grandmother hurt herself while farming at the remote areas and my mom had to go check on her .later on she died leaving a lumpsum bill in the hospital.my mom had to seek help from my late father’s family who help us clear the bill.
In addition the connected me to daddy mosses who paid for my school fees in grade 8 and I got 281 marks in my final exams he also took me to his home children’s garden home and school and supported me in my high school education. Here at these home I lack nothing. All my basic needs are provided for and the children here love me as their own sister. I want to work hard and smart in my education with the given support and opportunity to change my life to become a lawyer so that I can be able to defend other people in court against domestic violence like the one I went through and start up for their rights I want to ensure that no child or anyone will go through the same situation as mine when I become a lawyer and to support my mom back at home. Lately I’ve joined journalism club since I love writing and doing research of events happening anywhere and I specialize in the writing group this makes me forget all my troubles and to keep my mind busy all the time.I am grateful to dad Moses for all that he has done and is still continuing to do. Thank you.
